When I was engaged in 2009, I knew immediately that I wanted to design my wedding gown. Soon after, I realized the process of selecting the fabrics and designing a wedding dress fit exactly to my body measurements eased so many frustrations other brides feel in the moments leading up to their big day. Plunging necklines, tight sleeves, exposed backs, improper fitting? I didn’t want to other brides to settle for less, so I decided to do something about it. In 2019, I founded Jamillah Bridal to bring together the dream we, as modest women, have all been dreaming.

I believe that one day, Jamillah Bridal will become a place where every client will be treated like royalty; a place where they will never hear the word ‘no’ and fall in love with becoming a bride. The vision I have for my company is to fulfill the dream of seeing brides of every age, shape or size experience all the joy and celebration of saying ‘yes’ to a dress they imagined, while staying true to their faith and culture.

Jamillah K. Abdullah is a dressmaker and fashion marketing consultant with an MFA from LIM College, New York. With over 30 years of experience behind a sewing machine and a background in design, she is dedicated to providing excellent handmade gowns and cheerful service.
